Custom Engraved Cutting Boards, Personalized by Laser
Turn a premium hardwood board into a keepsake. We laser-engrave names, monograms, logos and custom artwork onto hard maple, walnut, cherry and bamboo boards — finished with food-safe mineral oil and ready to gift or use.
Everything you need to know about custom engraved cutting boards
Custom engraved cutting boards are solid hardwood or bamboo boards personalized with laser engraving — a family name, a wedding date, a monogram, a company logo, even a handwritten recipe. The laser burns the design into the wood itself, so there’s no ink, no vinyl, and nothing to peel or fade. The result is a working kitchen tool that doubles as a keepsake: practical enough to use daily, personal enough to display.
Because every board is engraved to order, the right choice depends on who it’s for and how it will be used. This guide walks through board sizes from small bar boards to XL charcuterie planks, the wood species we engrave and how their hardness compares, edge-grain versus end-grain construction, personalization options like monograms, juice grooves and gift boxes, and how quantity-based pricing works for wedding parties, realtors and corporate gifting programs. Ready when you are — request a custom quote at any point.
A gift they’ll actually use — every single day
Most gifts end up in a drawer. A custom engraved cutting board lives on the counter, gets used at every meal, and carries your message for years. Whether it’s a couple’s name and wedding date, a client’s new address from their realtor, or your company logo on a holiday gift, the engraving makes an everyday object unmistakably theirs.
Permanent personalization
Laser engraving burns your design into the wood grain. No ink or decals — the mark deepens the board’s character and never washes off.

Cutting board sizes: which one fits the gift?
Size sets the tone. A small ~9×12" board suits bar prep and small-kitchen gifting, a medium ~12×16" is the everyday workhorse most couples reach for, a large ~14×20" anchors serious home cooks, and an XL ~12×24" charcuterie plank is built for entertaining. Here’s how they compare.
Janka hardness by wood species
Janka hardness (approximate, pounds-force). Harder woods like hard maple resist dents and knife marks; softer cherry and walnut trade a little hardness for rich color and gentler wear on knife edges.
Board length by size
Longest dimension shown. The medium ~12×16" board is the most-gifted size — big enough for daily prep, small enough for any kitchen.
| Size | Approx. dimensions | Best for | Engraving area |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | ~9×12" | Bar boards, bread & cheese, small-kitchen gifts | Compact — monogram or short name |
| Medium Most gifted | ~12×16" | Everyday prep, weddings, housewarmings | Names, dates & artwork |
| Large | ~14×20" | Serious home cooks, family kitchens | Full designs & recipes |
| XL Charcuterie | ~12×24" | Entertaining, restaurants, statement gifts | Logos, spreads & serving layouts |
Real wood, chosen for the way it cuts and engraves
Wood species drives how a board looks, wears, and engraves. Hard maple (~1,450 lbf on the Janka hardness scale) is the classic butcher-block wood — tight-grained, dent-resistant, and pale enough that laser engraving shows in crisp, dark contrast. Bamboo (typically ~1,380 lbf) offers similar hardness at a friendlier price point for bulk orders. Walnut (~1,010 lbf) and cherry (~950 lbf) are slightly softer, which makes them gentler on knife edges, and their rich chocolate and warm reddish tones make premium, gift-worthy boards.
Construction matters too. Edge-grain boards are built from long parallel strips — durable, economical, and the best canvas for engraving. End-grain boards expose the wood’s fiber ends in a checkerboard pattern; the fibers close up behind the blade, which is kindest to knives and hides cutting marks, making end-grain the choice for heirloom-tier gifts. Every board leaves our shop sanded smooth and conditioned with food-safe mineral oil.
- Hard maple ~1,450 lbf — the butcher-block standard; crisp engraving contrast
- Bamboo ~1,380 lbf — hard, sustainable, budget-friendly for bulk runs
- Walnut ~1,010 lbf — deep chocolate tone; premium gifting favorite
- Cherry ~950 lbf — warm color that deepens with age; easy on knives
- Edge-grain or end-grain — everyday durability or heirloom knife-friendliness
- Food-safe mineral oil finish — every board conditioned before it ships
Make the board unmistakably theirs
Names, dates & monograms
Classic single-letter monograms, established-date layouts, or full family names — set in fonts we help you choose.
Logo engraving
Your company or restaurant logo, engraved crisp and permanent. Vector art gives the sharpest result; we proof every layout.
Juice grooves
A routed channel around the cutting surface catches juices from roasts, fruit and tomatoes before they reach the counter.
Handle cutouts
Built-in handle cutouts make boards easy to carry, hang and serve from — a natural fit for charcuterie planks.
Gift boxes & inserts
Add a fitted gift box, care card, and optional personal note so boards arrive ready to hand over — no wrapping required.
Custom artwork & recipes
Handwritten recipes, state outlines, house sketches, wedding hashtags — if you can send it, we can proof and engrave it.
Wood tones and the impression they make
With engraved boards, the “color” is the wood itself. Lighter woods show the darkest engraving contrast; darker woods read as premium and understated. Here’s how the tones land:

How engraved cutting board pricing works
Boards are priced per unit, and the per-board price drops as quantity climbs. Your quote depends on four things: wood species, board size, engraving complexity, and total quantity. A single walnut heirloom board and five hundred bamboo logo boards are priced very differently — tell us what you’re planning and we’ll quote it exactly.
